Wow, it's early here and I also lurk /r/buildapc, so I was super confused what subreddit I was in for a second there! Awesomely formatted table.
Get a steel greyhound comb and a cordless Dremel for grooming. Get your puppy used to being groomed early on. Comb its fur, check its ears, run your fingers through its mouth, and Dremel its nails EARLY ON. I used to do my parents' corgi's nails with a clipper but switched to a Dremel after we met Drewbert's breeder and it's seriously a life changer.
My breeder dremels her puppies' nails (only the back ones at first) weekly from the moment they are born, so our puppy barely struggled when we first did his nails. It's also important to do his nails weekly so they don't get too long. As a result, Drewbert has the most perfect marshmallow paws and toe beans.
Also recommend you getting a shampoo. We have both a shampoo and conditioner for him. Our breeder recommended All Systems or Biogroom shampoos. For conditioner, we went with a True Blue Conditioner.
A Himalayan Chew also worked wonders with our puppy and he's in the middle of teething right now.
As for food, we were advised by every breeder we spoke with NOT to feed puppy food. Consult with your breeder and your vet (assuming you've picked a vet that is familiar with the breed) about this. Drewbert eats like a king and gets: Annamaet Encore, Vital Essentials Raw Beef Nibblets, a tsp of pumpkin purée in the AM and Annamaet Encore, 2 tbsp of plain low-fat yogurt, fish oil, 250mg Vitamin C, plaque-off in the PM.
Alright I have more questions.
I started looking at all the tools I should buy and I think I went overboard (I haven't bought anything just yet). How does this look for a beginners list of things to buy?
To Buy:
For the holster
kydex ( 2 or 3 sheets of .080 from knifekits or amazon. 1 sheet of .125) ($6-8 per, $10 for .125)
1/4" rivets from knifekits - $15 or amazon
Chicago screws (I know they are #8 but with two layers of .080 will the .250 be long enough? or should I get the .500... maybe I'll just order both. ($4 and $5)
For the shop (tools)
Mega Foam x2 Knifekits - $13
Big ass clamps x2 Amazon - $18
random small clamps from Lowes $5-10 total
Cookie sheet for my toaster oven amazon - $8
Hand coping saw amazon $6
Heat gun amazon $13
Mechanix Gloves (Because otherwise I would burn my hands) amazon - $16
White craft pencil amazon $2
Die guide (I've been looking at the other knifekits one with the guide for use with a hammer would this be better? I don't have a press and from the picture the other one you suggested looks like it needs it) $35-40
hand sand paper from Lowes $5-10
Dremel Amazon $44
Laser thermometer Habor freight $30 or Amazon for $18
Stuff I have:
scrap wood (for making the book press)
using a toaster oven I already own.
Looks like total is about $240-260.
So am I missing anything? Those die guides for rivets I'm still wondering about. Does using a hammer work alright? Or should I look around at local hardware stores for a press? Anything not worth it? I'm planning on making 2-3 holster to start with just for me. Plus 2-3 mag holster. I also have at least 2 friends asking for holsters and mag holsters. Probably 10 holsters to start with. maybe as many as 15-20.
Devotion to one deity or another is a little bit of a touchy subject around here, so I won't go into that, but if you want to make an amber pendant with a rune on it, I don't think anyone would argue.
If it were me, I would start with something pre-polished like this and then either buy or borrow a rotary tool such as the Dremel in that link and carve it yourself. Fill with enamel or paint, you can find smaller quantities at a hobby store, to make it more visible. If you use a latex-based paint, you'll want to seal the whole bead with a polyproplene (sp?) or something similar. Then use the same tool or a drill to drill a small hole in it and put it on a cord, or you can find jewelry mounts on Amazon as well but they're going to be more "effeminate." With Amber, you'll want to use slow speed for carving and drilling as it could be a little more fragile. You could also find a pre-drilled bead and do the same thing, I saw some on Amazon doing that search that had reinforcing grommets out of stainless steel.
EDIT: If you're not keen to do all that work or want something more specific, there's a pendant from Jelling Dragon which is claimed to be based on a "Viking find from Sweden," looks like a mini-statue of the goddess and it only runs $24 in bronze or $42 in silver.
