If you want to get the best performance you can, I would recommend getting a laptop cooling pad. When a computer had to do a lot of work it generates heat, in order to protect it self from overheating your computer will purposely slow it's self down. Getting a laptop cooling pad will help with heat generation and is the cheapest and easily thing you can do to get a performance boost from your laptop.

This is what I got for my XPS 15 9500. I rarely plug it in, but it allows me to lounge on the couch while allowing plenty of airflow underneath the machine.
Nothing beats proper maintenance and care for increasing longevity. Your cooler looks clever and affordable. Get a second one and swap between both once a week. You'll find that it would last much longer. Interchanging between 2 coolers would prove to last longer than keeping one and buying a new one after it breaks. That said, random chance dictates that you could get a bad cooler or an unfortunate disaster could befall to one of the coolers. buying 2 coolers is better than waiting for a new cooler after the first one breaks.
Taking care of your tools>buying expensive.
I bought a thermaltake. I like your cooler design more. However the thermaltake has a longer standoff on the bottom. when I place it on the table, the screen is high enough that I don't have to look down(keep my head straight). It is a low quality cooler and regret my decision. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00FPR8FLY
I would have gotten a cooler designed similar to this instead for the bedroom. I don't believe I would game as hard that I need something strong, when I lay in bed. Comfort vs utility. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B002NU5O9C
I was having trackpad issues where it would freeze/ lag and also right click issues where the entire touch pad would be right click sometimes
So far those issues are gone with the fresh clean install
I would say that dell power manager is needed as my game would lag when in optimized mode and when i put it to performance mode it worked better, although i dont have it installed right now so i will try playing the game and check how it works
After the clean install the 1517 color profile on the 9710 was gone, it appeared after i installed the Dolby Vision Panel Driver, i still did not install premier color app
I actually use mine on my lap and this pad works really well
