Here is my "oh shit" kit. AC WORKS RV/Range/Generator 14-50 50Amp Plug to 6-20R 15/20Amp 250Volt Adapter (To 6-20 Flexible W/Breaker) https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B083YYCBRH/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_i_td86EbJFHVQXX
BloomGrow 110V / 120V to 220V / 240V Plug Adapter for US (1 PC) https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B075FTC9RT/ref=cm_sw_r_em_apa_i_3e86EbSH8KDYW
These 2 items give you a current protected solution. It gives me about 4% per hour.
But you won't be properly protected for a short. The wires of the EVSE are not rated for 50 amps, and if there were a short, they could overheat faster than the 50 amp breaker would trip.
Proper is to use one with a circuit breaker like this.
