My understanding is the gun lock is required if you don’t have a doj approved safe. If you do have a safe you can sign a form when you buy the gun saying so and not have to buy the gun lock. Also, op if you haven’t yet bought a gun safe I’d recommend a combination one as there is no way for your child to find the keys as there are no keys. I really like v-line as there are no batteries to worry about and they are very secure.
