4 days post-op right now, also lap, and I wish I had this list last week. A few other things I've found helpful:
Extra heating pads, one each for your shoulders + abdomen. The CO2 air bubbles from the surgery are no joke and heat takes the edge off.
Notebook/planner to track which meds you take when after you get home, especially if you're a sleepy healer. Sometimes I can't remember which I took when but hubby has been diligently writing them down for me as I go.
Extra bandages or gauze/tape (hospital forgot to send me home with these)
re hygiene: Unscented soap for showers after, antibacterial depending on hospital instructions. Dry shampoo + face wipes to also avoid irritating the incisions in the shower. A loofa on a stick and/or something to keep your shower stuff at a reasonable height to avoid bending and twisting (or supportive person you're real comfy with to help you shower - I still can't bend to wash my legs or back myself). A peri bottle or bidet is nice for helping to feel clean too.
Honestly I've wished that I had one of those grabber sticks on more than one occasion, for how many times I've dropped something small and had to wait for my husband to come get it.
Bonus if a loved one is having surgery: buy them gift cards for takeout/delivery or supply easy to heat meals. I've been eating alright since I got home, but neither me nor my partner are going to be in the mood to cook for a while. People bringing food/sending doordash has been a lifesaver
Lastly, your boyfriend KNOWS how much you appreciate him and his care; I strongly suspect your love is reciprocation enough. Remember to be kind in your words, even when you're in pain and grouchy and tired, and let him pamper you while you heal. Then, if you still feel you must pay your debt after you're recovered, spend some time focusing on caring for him through whatever his love language is. Hoping for a short healing time and long-lasting successful results for you!
Bought this one 2 years ago with almost no research. It’s held up well with constant use indoors and out and abuse from a toddler. Recently I left it out in the rain for a week (big oops) but was able to get it back to normal with just some WD40.
