depends on your budget, but what I did was use some old Christmas lights, and bought some sound dampening hexagons (42 dollars for 12 of them).
I placed the hexagons 1 inch apart in a pattern above a small bookshelf. On the bookshelf I have a stuffed hippo wearing a christmas hat (stuffed hippo was a christmas gift 2 yrs ago), 3 black metal pokemon cards (gift from a friend), and an RGB pineapple (won it at dave an busters years ago). I also bought an RGB light that shifts through the color spectrum for 60 bucks.
I cant post an image here as I am a free user, but if you wanna see what I mean just go to time stamp 5:34 of my my most recent stream vod (twitch.tv/mintythehippo). NO NEED TO WATCH THE VOD, just check out the background if you want to at that timestamp and peace out.
Also basic lighting techniques go a long way to help with background/image quality. I suggest watching some youtube videos on that subject. I use a 3 point lighting setup and I think it looks okay. StreamScheme.com has some good articles and videos on the subject, but also check out AlphaGaming on youtube, or even some folks like Parker Walbeck, Danny Gavirtz, or Tom Beck on youtube for equipment/filmmaking advice.
I've provided the links below to amazon if you wanna see the pricing/options you may have, and my channel has an entire list of the lights/equipment/setup stuff that I use without direct links.
Please note: THESE ARE NOT AFFILIATE LINKS. I AM NOT AN AMAZON AFFILIATE MARKETER. I AM NOT EVEN A TWITCH AFFILIATE. Just tryin' to help a fellow streamer out.
