I am not mirroring the Synology to the cloud, although they do have an option for that. With their quickconnect (https://quickconnect.to/) it makes it easy to access your video 24/7 from your own home. If your internet were down you would not be able to see the video from outside of your LAN. (I am running ATT fiber for primary internet, Comcast cable secondary, Starlink Backup 1, ATT LTE Backup 4) so even if someone came and cut my physical att/comcast cables the Starlink would still work and finally the cellular connection....
Hardware:
Synology DVA3221:

I have 4x 14TB Western Digital Purple Surveillance drives:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0966SWW5S
They are in Synology's SHR (Synology Hybrid Raid) Mode for a total of about 36.7 TB. With all of the cameras, I can store 30+ days HD video.
Z-Wave Network:
I am also running Homeseer with a ton of Zwave devices for home automation. The cool thing is you can send Webhooks from your Synology to trigger different events. For example, we installed five, 15-20ft poles around the property and added cameras and big ass lights to them. When the cameras detect a person (or vehicle that is driving slowly by the property or stopping, etc) we trigger those events to turn on different lights, notify my phone, sound z-wave alarms, etc etc. It is really unlimited what you can do at this point.
The main limitation with the DVA3221 is you have a limited amount of GPU power to run these deep analytics (AI people detection). You can only run 12 real-time tasks. So you may not be able to run analytics on every camera. I have it setup in a way that the most important areas are all able to be monitored with the analytics despite the 12 real-time limit....
Edit- Forget to mention:
And if I am out of the country or in the shower, or don't have my phone on me, deep sentinel is still watching and they have done a great job scaring someone off the property :) "HELLO THIS IS DEEP SENTINEL SECURITY YOU NEED TO LEAVE THE PROPERTY NOW <they sound the alarm on the camera>!!" So cool.
Example video link below (I now have the cameras in color night mode which look way better than this video. The flashing is the IR from the license plate reader outside).

Here's another one where you can see the zwave light kicking in after the camera has detected a human. They were in and out so quickly that deep sentinel didn't talk to them but did call me. By the time they called my phone had already alerted me and I had eyes on from the balcony in about 60 seconds. They were gone in less than a minute.
