My home is quite small and compact so I dont need the 'wifi is great' talk please.
nobody ever says that.
And I assume it's better to buy the NVR and a camera or two and add on as desired and funds allow?
you can actually start with the cameras, and stick in a microSD. then add a recorder later.
it's kind of a PITA to get the video from the camera, but it works. you just have to browse to the camera with your laptop and review it that way.

FYI, I have used cheap micro SD cards not designed for "endurance" purposes, recording 24/7, and had them last several years before dying. I recently used a 5+ year old SD card, Class 4, and it lasted like 3 years recording 24/7 at 1080p.
I personally would buy cheaper SD cards (regular class 10 cards are more then enough for 1080p or even 1440p+ video), or I'd get ones with higher capacity for the same price, but if you want to buy that particular one, make sure to get the proper listing sold by amazon. Your link is a 3rd party seller for $20 when it normally sells for $10.
