I bought mine for $95 on Amazon and have hiked approximately 150 miles so far in hot weather, deep snow, mud, steep inclines, creek crossings, etc. they were comfortable right out of the box and have been a great pickup. I was worried that new boots would give me blisters while being worn-in, bit these were great.
I also own a pair of these - Columbia Men's Buxton Peak Hiking Shoe, Breathable, High-Traction Grip https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0787D6SN3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_76XSEJB8W5QF9YM2HJNC?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1-
Incredibly comfortable and have awesome traction and a beefy toe. I prefer these over running shoes converted to trail runners.
These are the boots - Merrell mens hiking boots,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VM9ZHQN?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I usually wear the boots just in case I encounter a harder trail or obstacle, but would be ready to hike 50 miles in the shoes if I had to. The beefier sole and rubber is way better for rocks, mud, etc
Bring lots of extra socks so you can switch if they get wet or are too thick/thin
