That makes sense. It most definitely can be done, but it would be somewhat complex. For the receiver, I would use an Arduino (or something similar) with a circuit like this (https://raw.githubusercontent.com/sean6541/file/master/receiver.png) connected to one of the analog inputs of the Arduino. The Arduino would have to be programmed to measure the voltage from the receiver circuit and control a dimmer module (like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JRFS6Z6) according to the voltage measured. The transmitter could be just a simple oscillator driving a coil. You'll have to experiment with different coil sizes, number of turns, oscillator frequency, and drive current to find the optimal configuration.

Also note that when powered, the entire receiver circuit should be treated as live at mains voltage. Never trust the shoddy isolation of those cheap dimmer modules.
