I'm in the same boat, looking for one of these. I'm down to bidding on used Drobos with known good PSUs (and maybe have a backup device itself if that's whats actually wrong).
I haven't found an individual PSU for Drobo.
I've had mine on an APC UPS (SmartPower 1500) for its entire life. It's about 2-3 years old. The brick has a green light, but the unit only briefly powers (maybe less than a second) before it goes dead. I've read around, and even though the PSU light shows green, these symptoms can still be a bad PSU.
12V, 10A is a lot of power for a brick: specifically the amperage, especially when sustained. These bricks aren't vented, and those large rectifying capacitors are a common failure point for power supplies in general. (Ever had a monitor/TV that just didn't turn on one day? Good money's on the rectifying capacitors in the internal PSU board.)
I'm not sure why they didn't go with a higher voltage to get a similar wattage with less amperage, but they likely had reasons (probably internal size of step-down boards or cost).
I'm considering building one of out a larger make-your-own AC-DC PSU, but I'm going to try others first. Really wish they used a more common voltage/amp pairing to get 120W, like 19.5V/6A.
The leds are powered with this 20A power supply: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01E6S0JS4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
All ground connections can be traced back to the same ground that is on this power supply. Even the Teensy GND is jumped to the GND rail.
