The Alpha wireless is less comfy than the Alpha wired because the earpads are less thick/dense.
Yes, they did add soft foam over the driver in the wireless version. Personally my ears are large when it comes to length and width, but not depth so my ears never touched the driver in the Wired version.
So in general, they are less comfy since the earpads are less thick, and a little more comfortable with the foam over the driver. But combined, it is a net decrease in comfort, but very little and just nitpicking at this point.
I've owned the Cloud II wired. If I were to rank them it be:
1st: Alpha Wired
2nd: Alpha Wireless
3rd: Cloud II
I rank the Cloud II lower because I like how the Alpha weighs less than the IIs.
If you replace the earpads on the Alpha Wireless with some replaceable ones, then they are super comfy. This is the one I bought
Fun fact: The Cloud II wireless and Alpha wireless have the same capacity battery.
