I dip and swirl, being careful not to ding it into anything. Afterwards I allow it to dry open on my razor stand and then close it. I wipe it off if I'm going to immediately close the razor.

I use any/every type of moisturizer after shaving. My legs are not very sensitive and I never have problems with ingrown hairs on my legs.

The best time to shave is while in the shower or immediately after. Your skin is still moist and hydrated. Since I do not shave in the shower and don't have the moisture/steam from the bathroom, my legs will dry out. Even though I do a hot towel treatment, my legs will still feel kinda dry and it makes shaves uncomfortable. Even using a great shave soap can make me feel like I'm doing a "dry shave" if I've been out of the water too long. Using the oil creates a barrier so the moisture doesn't escape. I use a light oil. It is Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Moisturizing Body Oil with Vitamin E. After shaving I spritz with Thayer's and moisturize with whatever lotion/flavor I feel like for the day. I also like Palmer's shea lotion.
