Here's what I used to replace my open hdd. KingSpec 128GB 1.8" 5mm ZIF SSD KSD-ZF18.6-128MS https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008NAI0YC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_Hm9JzbG6H2EKD

I don't see any reason why your everyday phone repair shop wouldn't be able to do this battery replacement. Zunes are significantly easier to disassemble than any iproduct ever made.

For SSD, the classic upgrade I am aware of (and used myself) is a kingspec 128gb 40-pin zif: https://www.amazon.com/KingSpec-128GB-1-8-5mm-KSD-ZF18-6-128MS/dp/B008NAI0YC?th=1

Remember you will have to reload the firmware which can no longer be done through the Zune software. There are instructions stickied in the sub.

ifixit has a HDD replacement guide. Just swap out the HDD for and SSD. I would recommend the KING 128GB zif SSD https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008NAI0YC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 have yet to have a problem with them. I updated my post with the link.

I’ve heard people throw the name Kingspec around when talking about SSD upgrades. I’m not entirely sure if this is the right size (1.8). I would ask around the subreddit a bit more, and shop around on eBay too.

And $75 is a pretty good price, and if you ended up spending an additional $40-50 on a soldering kit and battery, I would say in the end it would be worth it to have a working Halo Zune. Then you could do the SSD upgrade when you feel like it (the drives are a bit expensive).

is that this ssd? Thanks. hardly seems worth it for the price, then I have to find someone to load an operating system and updated software.

Did your research say if this was also compatible?
