That's a typical mSATA/m.2 external enclosure- they have solid state drives so no moving parts and no sounds. I've bought a number of these cases to hold mSATA/m.2 drives I've pulled when upgrading them, to use as external drives. This one shows what they look like and the types of mSATA drives that will fit. (I haven't used this one in particular, just an example)

They're quiet, but do get very hot when you're using them.
