I have 2. Use a cane most. And have a Mobility scooter. An inexpressive 3 wheeled type that and be disassembled for easy transport (in auto). I use a wood handed cane (folding type) and agree if you drop it wrong the handle can break. But they make hard plastic type handles that survive just fine. Plus the cane will over time cause pain in wrist, elbow and shoulder.

I received some new fancy cane tips for Christmas and are a God send. Has relieved much of the cane stress. the cons = very $pendy and are heavy compared to ones that came with cane.

You have a third option is a rolling walker. Talking to ones with 4 wheels

I think a manual wheel chair might put too much stress on your shoulder. Suggest you try one or two for a bit to tell.

Don't forget mobility scooters. I like mine, IMHO it's all easier to get up from than a wheel chair.
