Having a bit of trouble with the ethernet at my location right now. There is technically an ethernet cable jutting out of the wall here, but I tried plugging it in and it seems to not be working? I'm not sure about the complexities of how this was handled at this building, so I don't know if we'd just need to feed a new super long ethernet cable through a few floors or what. But it seems kind of complicated, and slapping a $10 USB receiver (from the compatibility list, by the way. Thanks!) on it sounds like it'd be easier - or at the very least, hold the door open until we can get that sorted out.
Unrelated, do you know why some of these have antennaes and some of them don't? O_o Does it matter whether I get one with or without?
I also tried connecting my NAS to my computer through ethernet directly, and I was able to find it on Qfinder, but I wasn't able to access it through that or the web browser. Also, I'm not sure if that would be great for me anyway, because I'd like to be able to access it both through my computer and through my phone.
Lastly, the stuff I do on my NAS doesn't really demand high performance all the time. If the connection can't reach super fast topspeeds, that's okay.
