My drumline uses these: https://www.amazon.com/Etymotic-Fidelity-Earplugs-ETY-Plugs-Standard/dp/B0044DEESS. They work great for letting you hear speech and everything at normal volumes while cutting down the really loud stuff. You can generally find them at Guitar Center or other music stores too

That's why I'm here, I don't judge you. PM /u/xl0 if I'm causing any trouble. WUT?
If going custom, check out where you can find these off the Westone site. An audiologist visit is required. There are other options for custom than these, but I’m not sure what would be better.

For regular earplugs, this article goes through a bunch of options. Eargasm ranked high.

I always liked the etymotic er-20’s for my ears. Good quality, but minimal reduction in noise. They work better for smaller canals. The er-20xs is shorter, but is for bigger ears.

Searching amazon for hi-fi earplugs will land you a bunch of options.
I was going to buy some anyway so I won't consider it in the contest, but I still really appreciate the suggestion... and that's very generous of you to offer to pass along the potential prize!
These are the ones I currently have in my cart - I'd read good things but I'd love to hear your thoughts.
A little background - I'd always thought it was really nerdy to wear earplugs at shows/clubs/festivals as an occasional attendee... but I've been to a few clubs lately that have literally hurt my ears they were so loud, and a recent Eric Prydz show I went to left my ears ringing for days. It's just no good and I intend to reduce the risk of any further damage... I urge others to take preemptive action because tinnitus is fucking wack.
I currently use these.

I have these and used them during the show in Mesa last night. $14. My ears were fine and everything sounded great. No high end muffle. Just a nice, even drop of DB across the spectrum.

What to Bring
People always ask what they should bring, it’s like any other festival and each person is different. So everyone's list is always unique.
This is normally my load out (beyond keys, phone, wallet):
All of that generally fits in my shorts and camelback without issues.
For females I'd for sure suggest bringing tissues or tp for the restroom, they can and will be lacking.
The Coop sells ear plugs near the lab coats section. CVS also sells them.
Amazon:
This is a really good eyemask that also comes with a really good earplug.
This is good to have in general if you go to loud concerts or areas with lots of noise. You will be able to still hear, just softer.
I own both.
I've used these for the last couple years, super clutch, they don't distort the music and they aren't very expensive: http://www.amazon.com/Etymotic-Research-Protection-Earplugs-Standard/dp/B0044DEESS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1337222411&sr=8-1 I just recommend buying multiple pairs, you will prob lose one/misplace one at some point.
So I will start with the list of things I already have saved from surfing this sub

These are great to put over your tent to keep the light and heat out in the morning so you dont wake up in a sauna at 7am
And finally, I will never attend another festival again without this stuff, it is a foaming body wash that does not require water. We use it at my work all the time for bed baths and whatnot, so I thought I would try it for a festival and it works quite well. It doesnt get you as clean as a normal shower but this and baby wipes can keep you feeling fresh the whole weekend (just dont use it on hair)

Thanks for the link, I must say that site sold me on them and I had no intentions of buying new ear plugs. I have been using these for a year or two and they are PERFECT. After a while I forget that I have them in but they are always there for me on the three + day long festivals. The only thing I think sometimes is maaaaaaybe they are just barely not enough. I think they are 12dB reduction. The EarPeace you linked can go up to 14 and that coupled with the sleeker design totally sold me. Also it was nice to see as I was hovering on the checkout page deciding whether I want to pull the trigger, a pop up appeared offering a discount code for free shipping. Couldn't say no after that.
This is really cool.
I'm wondering why even the most mentioned thing only has 74 mentions. I know you only scrapped comments from 2015 - 2017, but that still seems so low! Does your script only count it as a mention if the link is written out? Or does it capture hyperlinks like this as well?
O.
The ETY earplugs are fantastic, and not expensive at all. 12.99 on amazon, very comfortable and will save your ears.
Hearos Hi Fidelity; $10 + free shipping with Amazon Prime
Etymotic Research ER20; $13 + free shipping with Amazon Prime
Seriously guys, it's so worth it.
Etymotic Earplugs. While you're out having fun at a massive or a club, don't forget to save your hearing as well! These earplugs just reduce the amount of decibels and don't affect sound quality at all. Some of my friends already have tinnitus and wish they had bought these sooner rather than later.
Dont buy foam ones they are useless and ruin the sound
Hello, I use these two Etymotic https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0044DEESS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_hmtxzbRYEFZZA and DownBeats https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A3Z44R2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_1ntxzbJ6GA996
Really recommend these
Etymotic. I swear by them and don't hardly play a gig without them in.

/u/davewells showed me some neat ones like those that were kept in a little storage thingy on his keychain. Don't know what brand they were though.
I didn't notice that they're that much louder than any other show.. but it is for sure a good idea to wear earplugs in general. My ears are, I guess, especially sensitive and I would get tinnitus after almost every show, and obviously damage was being done (I've got it a bit permanently now too). I also would recommend those Etymotic Research earplugs, I have the ones with the longer stems and they're great.

Etymotic have been my go to for almost 20 years. Foam earplugs don't have the capability to have a proper frequency muting and will make stuff sound muffled like you said.
