I'm gonna be honest, they would lose so badly in a patent fight. Nothing about their design screams individuality or a notable design bump. In fact, this video pointing out the differences would probably hurt them. Worth nothing the top amazon review reads suspiciously similar to the video, and is written like an advertisement.
Guys, come on. This blatant corporate guerilla marketing by a multimillion dollar camera company that sells overpriced camera bags for ~$100. I don't care that camera equipment is expensive as is, price creep and the permittance of luxury hurts the consumer. If it takes amazon to produce a cheaper version for less than half the cost, so be it.
Bezos & Amazon suck, but:
Amazon doesn't call it Everday Sling. They call it Amazon Basics Camera Bag. They say it is "sling style" in the description, which it is. (Don't know for sure, but maybe they changed it when they saw the error of their way.) https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Everyday-Sling-Inches-Black/dp/B084CG43XD
Hundreds of designs for these kinds of bags have been done over the decades. Face it, Peak Design's video is a marketing strategy, not a righteous complaint that deserves this kind of attention.
People on a tight budget cannot afford the one by Peak Design. (It should be "Peak Cost Design." Guys, next time try for good cost/value instead of max $$. Yuppies trying to strike it rich.)
Peak Design's zippers, dividers, etc. may be better, but not $100 better. Exorbitant markup.
Neither are made in the U.S.
Sorry you guys didn't protect your IP, then choose to sell on Amazon. You chose to place your bag without ANY IP protection on Amazon and are surprised your well selling bag now has a replacement that is $75 cheaper?! That is 1/6th the price. PROTECT YOUR IP PEOPLE!! Don't blame Amazon for being Amazon. Q: "is it expensive to protect your IP?" Prob cheaper than a lawsuit with Amazon while they outsell your bag. Oops...
Peak Bag is $150 (https://www.peakdesign.com/products/everyday-sling?variant=29742302068780) The Amazon bag is $25 (https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Everyday-Sling-Inches-Black/dp/B084CG43XD/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2RQK99CGTVSDI&dchild=1&keywords=amazon+basics+sling+camera+bag&qid=1614805226&sprefix=amazon+basics+sling+c%2Caps%2C199&sr=8-3)
I tried to find it on Amazon and it looks like they changed the name, I assume from all the blowback.
Amazon Basics Camera Bag - 11 x 8 x 4 Inches - Black https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B084CG43XD/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_KD03M126S6CDB7371FE0
https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Everyday-Sling-Inches-Black/dp/B084CG43XD
They might have changed the name in response to criticism though because the URL slug is still "Everyday Sling"
Sometimes it's important to distinguish between legality and morality.
Could they sue? No. Because it's Amazon. Amazon would destroy them.
Did they rip it off?
Look at the URL:
https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Everyday-Sling-Inches-Black/dp/B084CG43XD
and look at the title now.
"Amazon Basics Camera Bag - 11 x 8 x 4 Inches - Black"
HMMMMmmmMMmmmMMmMMMMmmmm.
Amazon has changed the name to Amazon Basics Camera Bag.
You can still see "Everyday Sling" in the URL, though.
They changed the name lol
the URL still has the Everyday Sling in it
https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Everyday-Sling-Inches-Black/dp/B084CG43XD
Heh, Amazon has now changed the product listing of this bag to "Amazon Basics Camera Bag", but the url still has the "Everyday Sling" name in it: https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Everyday-Sling-Inches-Black/dp/B084CG43XD
Amazon changed the product name but not the URL:
https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Everyday-Sling-Inches-Black/dp/B084CG43XD
Searching BezosCorp for "Amazon Basics Everyday Sling" returns the Amazon Basics Camera Bag for $35.14 vs. the Peak Design Everyday Sling bag for $99.95.
So what this video does is alert budget-conscious shoppers that there is an alternate camera bag for 1/3 the cost which does pretty much the same thing, but without all the upcharges that being a woke feel-good brand demands. Not sure if this is going to swing sales the way they seem to desire.
(It's like people who claim they'd happily pay an extra dollar for a burger if it meant the person flipping it or botching their drive-thru order would get a "living wage" only to discover that prices go up waaaaaaay more and now that frequent go-to meal is now a special treat due to "those greedy owners jacking up prices.")

Ok, you're a paid shill. I don't care. There's no way 50 people in this thread made the same mistake by accident. The amazon link you posted says $28, not $25. The $150 is for a giant bag... Apples to apples is $80 vs $28. Considering the PD bag is lifetime warrantied, and the amazon basics might make it to the end of the month, ignoring ethical and moral reasons, the PD bag is still the better buy.
I think this is the page: https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Everyday-Sling-Inches-Black/dp/B084CG43XD
Looks like they've retitled it "Amazon Basics Camera Bag - 11 x 8 x 4 Inches - Black"
