He began the "zartonk" years (Resistance) of the Armenians in the 19th century. he has a lot of well known books such as Tavit Peg(the romanticized version of an Armenian hero who battled Turks and Russians in the 18th century) and the Fool (the most well known book in Armenia and the diaspora).

  4. Siamanto poet who died in the genocide, he wrote about hope, freedom and opression.

  5. Krikor Zohrab, Killed in the genocide, notable Armenian writer and politician/lawyer, member of the Ottoman parliament, he was supposedly the friend of Talat Pasha, there is the mail he sent him, before he was killed. He was trying to stop the atrocities of the Ottoman Army.

  6. Daniel Varujan, Killed during the genocide, Armenian poet, established the Mehean group aimed to start an Armenian literacy and artistic renaissance.

  16. Hovhannes toumanyan, prominent writer, Armenian childrens books and well known drama and romantic novels, has done a lot of political activism, he created the committee for support of wat victims to help armenian genocide refugees
