So are not all adapters created equal then? That could help explain it.
I bought it based on feedback from another gamer who said it delivered zero lag output, but maybe something has changed since they recommended this adapter? Who can say. You think an official dex station would work better? I'll try to keep my eyes peeled for a deal.
You will need an adapter with "power delivery." There are very few cables that will do this (and the one I tried at first is not good). I'd recommend a USB-C hub, like this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Y6F74F1. This company has a lot of models, so choose what you need. The price is reasonable, but be aware it shoots up with the more options you opt for.
The nice thing about this device is that you can connect up to a 100W power supply. I have a spare USB-C laptop power supply which works nicely. It powers all of my phone, an active-cooling phone holder, and the hub itself with power to spare.
This is the hub I use, it works with my Galaxy S22 Ultra, my work notebook, and personal laptops with USB c

I have 2 of each, at home and office, they see multiple plugins per day, still working great after a year
