Hey - I just started up this summer after lurking. Here is what I went with:

Then I got a empty keg from a buddy but I saw some on Craigslist for $20. I watched a YouTube video about how to take out the pressure system of the keg. I had a propane tank for my grill so I did not have to buy a new one of those. Then I bought a hydrometer and an alcholmeter from Amazon. I had laying around a couple food grade plastic five gallon buckets for fermenting. Bought a few cheap air locks off amazon and put them in the bucket lids.
So, my set up was about $200 and I have been making some good brandies out of the fruit from my back orchard.
