Just finished building my Apex Pro workbench. I used a Beech 60" x 30" butcherblock from Floor and Decor. I finished it with Rubio Monocoat Pure (2 coats on top and sides) to keep the surface protected (to keep it it from warping). $170 for the butcher block, and $85 for Rubio kit ($50 if you have pads/rags/spreader). Not counting random oribital sander and sandpaper I had already.

A bit unconventional, but I got these to mount my power strip above my desk on the back (haven't put it on yet):

Clamp: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07SXTPDXX

Power Strip: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZJXAH74 (had this left over from another project)

Power Strip w/ surge I may get later: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00UK4BP1O

The reason is it's a (mobile) workbench and I need easy access to outlets for tools.

I also have a Vertex Pro with a Walnut top for my office and I love it: https://www.reddit.com/r/deskhaus/comments/smwc4w/comment/hx8b2qe/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

With the Apex Pro workbench I wanted a top that was sturdy but cheap enough for me not to care about working on with tools and what-not. And since it is finished with Rubio, it's just easy to sand and re-apply.
