To clarify, I haven't tried the prostock pads. I have owned these.
Link 1 is a fabric material. Breathable but will change the sound. Most likely a loss of bass.
Link 2 are made of microsuede. I had other brainwavz pads of the same material and its more of a less breathable velour than suede. The oval suedes sounded really weird on the m40x and I'm not sure what the prostock version would soundlike.
Link 3 is a mix of materials that uses a pleather outside, a velour face contact, and perforated inside. Compared to a pure pleather counterpart, you can expect less bass impact and less intense high as the perforations reduce the amount of reflections within the ear cavity. I had oval versions of these and did not like them on the m40x.
Link 4 is what I speculate what you want if you already like the stock earpad sound.
For sure. Unfortunately pleatherette ear pads are a wear item. I try to get headphones that use generic pads. Fortunately this one does.
According to Creative Labs, the H7:
The leather ear cushions of the Sound Blasterx H7 are not a retail part and we are not selling it separately. Be that as it may, at your own discretion, you may check market places or other forum sites and see whether you can find a generic ear cushion for your headphones with the following dimensions:
- The inner dimensions of the earcup cushion are 67mm and 83mm.
- The outer dimensions of the earcup cushion are 87mm and 106mm.
If getting replacement pads isn't a rush, or you want to pay less for a spare set, they're $5 here. The biggest size has the right external dimensions, but the internal dimensions are a bit tight.
Brainwavz has oval pads on Amazon with the same dimensions, except the thickness is 7mm thicker. They're much more expensive, but at least in the US shipping is much faster.
You can consider getting these:

I got black ones for my Cloud2 and also a pair of red with black inside for my cloud alpha. I've been using the black ones quite regularly for over 2.5 years now and it's showing a bit of wearing out so I might have to buy another pair soon.
