dude you need more free space on your system drive. you insist it's shit software engineering, but you just don't kno what the fsck() you're talking about. this is the operating system drive, they want you to have enough free space for temp files, page file growth if needed, etc. this is Defensive coding on their part.
and you're the type of person they're defending themselves against.
uninstall one of your damn games and go on amazon and buy a goddamn 1tb SSD
don't have external drive that big
Merely copy your Windows files to a NTFS drive volume. Not sure of your internet speed, but uploading 400GB would likely be very slow.
drive options though you don't give your physical location or any other useful info:

Thank you! After more research, I purchased this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OJ3UJ2S and this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08QBJ2YMG that I think will work just as well correct?
If you're looking for a rock solid high performance SSD, I would recommend Samsung 870 Evo. Its about $100 for 1 TB but is probably the best SATA SSD you can buy overall.

If you just want the best bang for your buck, not as great performance but still reliable, then the Crucial BX500

There are also newer, faster NVME SSDs if you are willing to get a bit more adventurous with your upgrade, but it will involve taking some parts out of the PC, so if you're not comfortable with doing that, then you might need to call in a favor from someone you know who is. If that sounds ok to you I can give some other recommendations.
NO WAY! You can do it way cheaper... Here's a quick build I made for $626.94:

I have 2 NUCs, both are sufficient, one is overkill and that's what my system runs on now, the other can definitely handle it but I use it as a general computer. If my current system has a catastrophic failure, I will wipe the "general use" computer and use it to validate (after also wiping the first computer as well of course so no chance of slashing).
