ok, i think you will really enjoy your life a LOT more if you buy proper adapters to rule out a lot of problems. here are links for digikey and amazon:
https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/cinch-connectivity-solutions-aim-cambridge/CP-AD-515/385338 (2 x rca->bnc, $1.85 each)
https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/tripp-lite/P315-06N/7243077 (jack->rca, $4.80)
or amazon:
the biggest upside is that you can get rid of any strange effects from the probes, which are really not useful in this scenario.
btw: it might not be an issue, but if you're on windows (especially windows laptops) make sure you turn off all audio enhancements like dolby atmos and others.
You will want a mixer. They are really cheap so no need to panic.
The good news is a setup including the XM8500 is still below $80!
Behringer Xenyx 502 Mixer - $40
Windscreen - $3 Note I would recommend you get a Windscreen. They're cheap and versatile.
Need help connecting Audioengine A2+ to Schiit Hel 2. My Schiit and macbook is connected to a CalDigit dock. The headphone output from the Schiit works fine, but the speakers aren't working. I used this Cable. Is this the right cable or perhaps I can't even connect the speakers this way? Speakers work when i connect directly to my macbook. Schiit manual says use 1/8 TRS to dual RCA which I assume is what that cable is. Thanks.
I went with a different approach. I got a set of these speakers and this cable. I then ran that cable from the audio output on my monitor to the speakers and set the VM to use the monitor's audio. The speakers mix the audio with hosts audio so it's fairly seemless.
I'm guessing something like that won't work in your situation
