Those are for urban areas with strong signals.
Yea I just moved out here from the Denver area and got around 40 channels with that antenna, I feel like I got my money out of it so no big loss there.
We would prefer to have an outdoor antenna if possible. Should I be looking at getting a separate amplifier or are antennas with the amp bundled okay? I'm not even sure where to start looking other than here.

congrats on cutting the cord, I did it about 4 years ago and have not regretted it one bit. My set up besides the OTA channels from the antenna include a roku with sling tv subscription for football/collegebasketball seasons. In May that will go away until football starts again ($25 a month) I also use Usenet daily to DL the other TV shows I want to view.. If you go the roku route ck out channelpear
