I think it's more the ingredients than the medium. I love that cream above, but really what works best is what you're the most comfortable using... as you're steering the ship.

We made this thick cream restorer for instances just like this. Without getting into trade secrets, it penetrates old leather more quickly and better. Give it a shot. I use it on everything. For a disinfecting, get a nylon brush and use a leather cleaner. We make on in our Esquire line.
