Measure the guide bore with one of these and a micrometer, and check the measurement against the spec in the service manual.

Not a bad idea to mic the valve stems too. They almost never wear out, but it's better to be safe than sorry if you're already going to have everything apart.

Also a visual inspection of the guide bores and valve stems for any obvious wear or galling.
