I have a clip on light that goes over a thin black cover I use to cover the cage every night. It is LED so it doesn't get hot and dims to a nice warm yellow glow. My older baby (7-8 months) always seemed so afraid when we put him in totally dark so we got him a light. I wonder though if I should phase it out now that he has been with us for a few months cause I am worried he isn't sleeping well overnight. My first bird always slept in the total darkness and only had night frights rarely.
