I concur with the other comments. You need (at minimum) a Displayport1.2 to HDMI 2.0 active adapter to handle the bandwidth for higher VR resolution. I currently use this Club3D adapter, and it works for my WMR blue Acer H101 HMD: https://www.amazon.com/Club3D-Displayport-1-2-HDMI-CAC-1070/dp/B017BQ8I54?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1
They have more expensive models for the latest Displayport and HDMI versions (DP1.4 and HDMI 2.0b), but the minimum cheaper version (linked) works fine for my gear. I go with Club3D because they are one of the few adapter companies certified by both standards.
