on amazon there are two options for the Carlinkit 2.0. 2017-2018 model and 2019-2020 model. does anyone know which model to buy? i also have a Sony AX100.
thanks for this post by the way! excited to get this
This one works great for me. Just read the manual on updating its firmware.
Ok, good to know. Amazon is saying the mini version is the "new" model and it tells me to get that one for my '19 Forester, but if the older larger one is better quality, I may try that one instead.
I just traded in my Stinger GT2 and took home an EV6 GT.
I have a Carlinkit 3.0 that I used with the Stinger. It works perfectly with the EV6.
It is on sale at Amazon for $57: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08P1GWQDB
I'm shocked that the GT doesn't come with wireless CarPlay or Android Auto, that it doesn't include Kia Digital Key 2 Touch, and that the car did not come with a Level 1 charger.
I'm not familiar with NTG model in your car - NTG6 or MBUX?
Either way -> if you have wired carplay then perhaps this will do?

If you don't have carplay functionality and cannot activate it via software, you will need a box (aliexpress - cheapest).
No wireless carplay on a 21 (I have a 21 Limited as well). I use this to get wireless carplay: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08P1GWQDB
I got this model based on rec's on this sub:

Plugged it into a USB port in the center console, took about 3 min to pair to my phone for the first time and now it automatically pairs without issue.

Its reliable. Sometimes gets wonky if both my wife and I are in the vehicle and we fight over who is connected. Same battle in her OEM Carplay vehicle as well. Some of the new ones come with Netflix and youtube.
I’ve got an iPhone 13 pro max. I’ve used the car link 2.0 and haven’t had any major issues. Just an occasional takes too long to connect, but works fantastic. I’ll drop the link.

Yeah. This is the one I got. CarlinKit 3.0 Wireless CarPlay... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08P1GWQDB?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I ended up getting command strip and taping it to the wall near the wireless charger so the cord and adapter are completely out of the way.
I’ve had this one for over a year and it works great.

There’s a lightning deal on Amazon right now for something that says it does the same thing: Limited-time deal: CarlinKit 3.0 Wireless CarPlay Adapter USB for Factory Wired CarPlay Cars (Model Year: 2019 to 2020), Wireless CarPlay Dongle Convert Wired to Wireless CarPlay… https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08P1GWQDB/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_dl_GMHVD4REGCVGSN7WGSDQ
Edit: Posted price is $120. With light ing deal and a coupon showing on the page, it came out to a total of about $55! I sure hope it works. I never knew about adapters until I saw this post, but I’ve always hated having to deal with the USB connection. I’ll try to remember to come back and update once I have it and have tried it.

Running since April. 100% recommend.
I got the CarlinKit 3.0 adapter back when I got mine and almost a month ago and it has been nearly flawless. I drove across several states without issues, have driven across my state a few times. I wish the selection screen were more streamlined to pick which phone to connect to. The selection buttons should be larger. It has been very responsive and it connects fairly quickly: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08P1GWQDB
The only problem I have is at once single place on a choke point where I have to cross a major interstate to go from my house into town. There is a large radio array for the seat of the county fire protection headquarters. It interferes with this unit. This is the only place it interferes, and it only does it for a stretch of about a thousand feet as I drive past that place. What sucks is about 1 out of every 10 times the CarPlay freezes up and I have to unplug and replug. Usually the video just kinda stutters as does the audio, sometimes dropping out for several seconds. I feel like this is a very specific issue to me, but if you're like near a major hub like that for police or fire, state patrol, or military, it may be an occasional issue for you. But this may also happen with other brands, idk.
