I’m down with weeping evergreens. Love them to be honest.

I’d argue people should “stake” them to get a little height before let go. Then you can get a vertical specimen. If this is of interest to you- let the norway spruce (the weeping tree) do it’s “push”. Mid June- get a bamboo stake with some training tape.

Start at the base of tree and tie the bamboo to the trunk. Think of it as a brace. Once you get to the lead, be careful and bend gently. Do 3-4 knots on the trunk and 3-4 on that top lead that’s bent at a 90.

Take all of this off mid September or in the fall. Once you get this plant at a desirable height, then let it go.

Start over the next year.

Its very easy and therapeutic to me.

If you let it go at this point, it’s going to do whatever. Might not grow vertical at all. If it were mine- I’d train in the next 3-4 years up, then let it go.

Weeping Norways are awesome when they make that push.

EDIT number 3- save the stake. Next year, rather than starting at the ground, tie off the stake 18-24” off the ground.
