There was the short lived “not quite heroscape” game

Minis are so friggen expensive and it's hard for a newish DM to start a decent collection. If you are in the same boat I was (having no minis as a new DM) I would highly recommend Smiling GM https://www.amazon.com/Smiling-GM-Unpainted-Miniatures-Roleplaying/dp/B07CV3LTNB you get 40 minis with 8 unique creature types. I've had success painting them. They aren't detailed but if you need some monsters for your games these work great! I also just bought MTG Planeswalker Arena for $20 on amazon https://www.amazon.ca/Magic-Gathering-Planeswalkers-Tactical-English/dp/B00SDJGCRA/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1540826305&sr=8-2&keywords=arena+of+the+planeswalkers The game comes with a bunch of minis. They are ever-so-slightly bigger than my "heroes of the realm" minis but not very far off and will work great for hoards of baddies. So for roughly $45 I now have over 75 minis... Not bad for the DM on a budget!
