Thanks. I've committed enough time to this, so I think I'm just gonna let his office pay for it and buy a bridge like you suggested. Since my parents will have to be the ones to troubleshoot it at some point, I'm gonna go with the kiddie version and get them a simple Netgear version.
I fully agree with /u/jonny-spot here. Ubiquity is as cheap as you want to go with this. the only way you could get away cheaper is if you had most of the necessairy equipment already lying around and you could diy something.
Please refrain from buying something like this for your project. I know it is the first thing that pops up if you enter "wireless bridge" in amazon and it is much cheaper than whati had suggested, but the reliability is close to zero, it will make you hate your life and you will regret buying it.
