I have this one and you can do a lot with it. If you want one big enough to cook a one pot meal, go a size up. I've cooked chicken and potatoes, biscuits, cobblers, you name it in the Lodge.
I have an el cheapo Camp Chef Dutch Oven for camping. The lid on mine does wobble a tiny bit, it's not as well made as the Lodge, but since I'm dragging it around in a horse trailer and cooking in wood coals, I don't get too worried about it. I've cooked biscuits, cobblers, camp taters, and a lot of other things in it, never had a problem, even with the less than perfect lid. It seems to seal just fine.
The Lodge stays home most of the time and gets used in my oven more than hanging from my tripod.
Once you get comfortable cooking with either of those, I'd recommend you hit the junk stores and flea markets for the big boys if you want vintage - if it's rusty or gunked up, no biggie. They'll clean up. Cracks or pitting are a problem - pass on those. If you want new, cruise the Amazon Warehouse - there's usually a lot of 'store returns' or dutch ovens with damaged boxes, but the product is fine inside. I think I paid 25.00 for my Camp Chef out of the warehouse. It's been worth every penny.
PS: I have found Lodge on FB market place, new in the box, for hardly nothing. I buy them when I find them. I now have a tower of the footed type dutch ovens for camping alone and a cedar bench lined with the hanging other types. I have a porcelain coated cast iron one for soups and such, but I like the seasoned/non porcelain cast iron for work horse cooking.
