What /u/Suriyawong says is right- you need to have an XLR condenser mic.
Years ago i invested in this Scarlett bundle. It's been an absolutely solid investment.
I've had the 2i2 gen2 for 5 years or so and I'm happy with it. I have a possibly dumb setup that works well for me, where I plug my guitar into my Katana amp, which is then plugged into the 2i2. That way I can play along to music on my computer while using the effects on the Katana via the 2i2's headphone connection. This way I don't wake the fam up with my noodling.
For me the 2i2 was worth the price increase over the Solo because I use the second connection for my desktop microphone.
FWIW I got my 2i2 as part of a bundle on Amazon. The headphones broke after a couple of years of daily use but the 2i2 and the mic have been chugging along without issue all this time.
I definitely recommend the Focusrite Scarlett line. There are certainly better interfaces out there but AFAIK they are all a lot more money.
