New, you could get a 6 inch dob for around $300. For the under $200 range I’d only be parroting schorhr, here’s a link (Amazon for simplicity) to what one of those looks like. The table tops require a table or a stool of sorts but are much less cumbersome, no tripod issues like the ones I had with the refractor

I bought a 70mm refractor for my first scope on a budget; it was a nice start but to u/schorhr’s point, which is usually right on point, the tripod was less than ideal. I enjoyed the view of the moon which got me hooked, but I must admit when I pointed the 70mm at Jupiter I knew I’d be spending more money soon.
I still have the 70, bust it out when kids come over, but my new pride and joy is an 8 inch dobsonian (zhumell z8) and the grass is definitely pretty green here on team dob. Table tops are nice from what I hear and research I’ve done - the extra aperture makes sense here and the base will be sturdier. Just snag a stool and you’re golden!
