The BTT mini E3 V3 is a 32bit board vs the 8-bit silent board. It can handle marlin 2.x very well with many of the new features turned on. It also handles printing at increased speeded much better than the 8-bit board does. Kersey Fabrications did a great video comparing the two boards while running marlin 2.x and showed the E3 V3 outperformed the silent board in print quality when the speed was turned up. Just know that if you get the E3 V3 you'll also have to invest in the TFT35 screen as the touch screen isn't compatible without a significant rewire and firmware update.
Disclaimer: I was speaking with a creator of the marlin firmware and he stated that the degraded performance results that Kersey demonstrated in his video was due to a bug called 'isr priorities' that was allowing the display to block motion. He was going to check which version of marlin the fix went into to see if Kersey tested that version, but he got sidetracked and didn't get back to me. One of my E5+ is running the silent board with TinyMachines firmware on it. The only problem I've observed is that it prints much slower than my E3 V3 board. A 10hr print will take 12h. I'm still working out fixing that issue. 🙃 it's possible I'll get the speed up, but for now it's a viable alternative if you don't mind a 20% decrease in speed.
I've purchased all my PEI Build plates from FYSETC. They are the cheapest, but the quality is just as good as a more expensive board. Just be sure to get the smooth as it offers better adhesion. PEI Build Plate
