That makes sense. I actually have been going less casual since I started teaching by wearing a shirt and tie Monday thru Thursday. I've acquired a few slim fit shirts, but need some better pants since almost all of mine are traditional fit currently, with the exception of my khaki chinos. With that being said, I don't mind that these shoes are less casual as long as I know what to wear them with.
