Literally you will enjoy watercolor so much more if you have a better set. And remember a few colors of good paint is a helluva lot more useful than 30 shitty paints. Here are a few of my absolute favorite starters.

Kuretake Gansai Tambi-creamier than traditional watercolors d/t ox gal, but great for beginners

ShinHan 7.5ml Tube Watercolors-highly pigmented-little goes a long way

Holbein 5ml-18 colors

Windsor and Newton Cotman

My advice is avoid pan sets that have white. If you need a nice opaque white, buy white acrylic paint or pH Martin Bleed Proof White

The only other advice I can give is to start with water brush pens like this before upgrading to a beginner-moderate level like this.

Crap brushes that don’t hold water and don’t keep a fine point will make you want to give up.
