OEM power supplies are not recommended because A) you'll need two of them (one for each the console & CD), and B) they're not voltage regulated, which puts a bit more strain on your system. The Sega genesis model 2 and 32x use a center-positive "yellow tip" power supply, and the Sega CD & Sega genesis model 1 use a center-negative "black tip" power supply, but all run at the same voltage, so you can get a single plug that splits multiple ways to power all devices.
