Before I started running and trailrunning this summer, I would typically carry up to 3L of water on my hikes and scrambles that are over 10% grade and an elevation gain of 800-1500m. I would use a small backpack for that.

Now, when I run a 800m climb over about 3km, I only use about 1L or less. I don't know what it is but I seem to want less water when I run. Now I use a hip pack with a couple water bottles but I actually really dislike the weight on my hips.

So I'm looking into a running vest with small water bottles or nothing for runs less than 10k and 500m gain.
