I like these and have used them for 3+ years since I replaced the RollerBlade set: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002WTUY7G
With that said I purchased 2 sets of these and one set of knee pads separately. The big issue is the straps will get longer over time. Although with heat you can shrink them a bit just by putting them out in the sun on a warm summer morning. And yes that will fade the black color.

I put all of my pads on the outside of my clothing. Well in winter where I have 3 or more layers on my knee pads, elbow pads are on the outside. My wrist guards are over my thin layer but under the outer layer so that I can just fit my fitness tracking watch. Here is the set I currently wear:

I like these over the Rollerblade set because they are easier to get on and off especially over my layers in the winter.
Being that I started skating in May of 2019, I have fallen many times on the Rollerblade wrist guards which were my first set. Those failed on me exactly one time when I was going too fast down an hill and had to do an emergency stop because of a car. I managed to slide on the only part of the wrist guard that had exposed skin.. All the other dozens of falls I was fine and usually ended up laughing.
Also I am not doing aggressive skating so if that is what you are doing I would definitely recommend a more protective wrist guard for sprains and such.
