i didnt purchase the connectivity pack, i just got stuff off of amazon and my local best buy. im using the vga cable that came with the unit (although from what i read, i should swap it out)
this is the splitter i have: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F5R9TNM?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00
and i believe this is the converter i have: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/j5-create-hdmi-to-vga-adapter-white/8895018.p?id=1219378309104&skuId=8895018
I'm using a Slingbox 500 with my Spectrum cable box (HDMI only) and I can confirm that this HDMI strips HDCP, allowing you to stream via HDMI from your Slingbox. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00F5R9TNM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_xOLKDb9QMBTWK
If you're only steaming cable, I wouldn't worry about HDMI 2.0. We're not taking 10-bit HDR, 4k, or high-frame rate content, but rather super compressed cable at max 1080i60.
I use this for live streaming. Can confirm it works for phat, slim and super slim on latest OFW

You need this because the error is your tv? My daughter had the same issue with her Samsung tv and this got it working. I'll get in touch with her and get back to you
I did a test with a VGA cable to thunderbolt to my macbook air and it worked relatively well, seems the screen sizing was a little off but I definitely had results. I will first test a different hdmi to vga adapter, and if that fails, I try a different HDMI splitter, I saw another post saying this one worked for them.
Wish me luck!
You need a video capture device. There are dozens of options to choose from, including standalone ones that can record to an SD card.
If you have the budget, I highly recommend using a RetroTINK-2X since it makes getting good results much simpler. You'd record the output from that using an HDMI capture device. Some have HDMI passthrough, but for others you'll need an HDMI splitter so you can also connect it to your TV. Or if you need to be able to play on a TV with no HDMI input, you can use a distribution amplifier to split the composite video before the RetroTINK-2X.
Not directly answering your question - I have the ASUS VG248QE 24" which I run with an OSSC. It does not handle line5x. I measured the input lag, and at line2x and line4x it introduces an extra frame of lag, and has to be run at line3x. I think this is because it is internally scaling to 720p or 1080p, and line3x would already be at 720p from the OSSC. This may be a factor you want to keep in mind, if you use an OSSC, you should test the lag on your monitor because it can vary based on the output of the OSSC.
This implies that using a RetroTink2x might also cause additional lag with some monitors, which is unfortunate.

Set up I use. The splitter strips hdcp from hdmi for game capture/streaming.
