lap done on 3/9 here, also had similar fear of possibly having to go full abdominal.

SOUP!!!!! and easy to prepare snacks (like those $1 chef boy r d in a cup, instant miso, chips, etc) lots of juice and sprite and hard candies were a god send while in the hospital. i wasn't so much hungry as snacky. be prepared to only want small meals at a time, it's taken awhile for my appetite to get back to normal.

i normally wear thongs but got some bikini brief and overnight period pads. i barely had any discharge and it didn't really start until the 2nd week so the pads are now just collecting dust lol. I also lived inleggings this giant hoodie and grippy socks. My incisions were right above my hips so it was hard to find anything that didn't rub but the leggings for sure were better than say jeans or normal pj pants. after the glue fell off i did have to put a bandaid over my left side one, but the internal sutures are still working themselves out (yay rejection lol) so it more of just itches. I also got this just b/c it was cute but it was nice to put over my belly to go on car rides.

something no one warned me around was the iodine staining. it took a good week to get that weird gray/red/brown stuff off my skin. i used a gentle body scrub stuff i had after about day 4 and after a few showers it came off like butter.

i didn't really need a squatty potty, but having a few extra pillows to prop between my legs was nice. Heated weighted blanket was awesome too. I found that squatting was easier than bending, but you will for sure regret doing that more than once or twice a day for the first few days. I stayed overnight so was pretty awake when i got home the next day. first thing i did was write down ALL my meds, what they were called, what they did and how often i should be taking them. That way when my roomie or bf needed to grab me something, they knew what it was and where it was (basket on the coffee table). made it nice and easy to just ask them to grab xyz for me instead of digging through everything every few hours.

don't forget your chap stick, gas x and stool softener! i borrowed a walker and wheelchair from a friend b/c i was still trying to be as active as i could, so if i wanted to hit the pub or go one a short walk, i was ready. the walker also came in handy to get in and out of bed (my frame is like 3 feet off the ground).

you got this! congrats on the upcoming yeeting!
