so as long as I get a repeater, I should still be able to use the same extender cable just fine as long as I get a small male to male adapter since the current extension cable I have is male to female, or should I get a male to male extension cable? If its the latter of the two, then I think I have a DP cable that came with my monitors if that'll work.

And for the repeater side of things, would this one work?:

This setup has worked perfectly for me the last 2 years.

For 33ft/10m , just search for equivalent for the length you want.

Yes it works, these are working for multiple people (myself included):

Overall adds about 3 meters/10 feet to the cable distances; however, this solution requires additional power at the point of connection.. so it really comes down to using these to make the actual headset connectivity be in a more favorable/accessible location vs back of a PC tower.

Yeah I have a 30’ DisplayPort extension and a 40’ usb extension — this active repeater is required at the extension point of the DisplayPort. I’m using this DisplayPort cable and this active USB 3.0 repeater (with this power cable). The USB cable has two places for power but I only have the end plugged into power.

It works fairly well, though I do need to restart it when I go to play more often vs when not using the extensions (it’ll sometimes not start at 90hz, and sometimes not have display though I do have sound and no errors). The DisplayPort repeater is plugged into a smart plug that I can easily turn on/off so I can restart WMR easily.

Cable Matters 2-in-1 VR Extension Cable (DisplayPort and USB Extension Cable) in Black – 5m / 16.4 Feet https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08F827M3G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_C89HZXFB01M0HVSDX8V7?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

And this

Cable Matters Active 8K... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D949F59?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

But I don’t think you need repeaters with only 1.8M extensions.

I bought cables from Amazon that work perfectly. At work but message or reply and I'll look it up when I'm home. Total was $180 or so I think, so they were not cheap, but much better than $600 and no issues.

EDIT: These are the things I bought. Still working without issue after ~300 or so hours of use.

I have a 10m fiber optic dp cable with a Cablematters f to f coupler.

I've been looking into extending the displayport to another room(did this previously for the Vive with HDMI), and found the Cablematters displayport extender , I'm assuming this is the one you are using. I wasn't sure this would work at '5K' resolution/refresh rate/cable length(listed for 4K/60 @ 32').

This is good to hear, I looked into this when I got the 5K, and I remember compatible cables(this length) being hundreds of dollars.

I had to try several things to avoid a faint colored static / sparkles when extending my Index. Get this

www.amazon.com/dp/B07D949F59/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_r46zEbRSR6ZMQ

And match it with a 8k rated dp cable. Keep in mind you have to plug it into power via micro USB. Either a port on your PC or a spare phone charger works.

Any high quality USB 3 cable works for me at that distance. I'm not using an active cable even.
