So you do have a hot air station as well which can be used to warm up the area before attempting to de-solder.

Use either one of the first 2 tips which have a large footprint and can transfer more heat.

The soldering iron here does use 'old technology' to transfer heat though so if you ever wanted something newer and better then get something like this: Quicko T12-956

I like a lot of heat control because I’m doing delicate work for the most part on keyboards, trying to also learn how to do graphics cards. I don’t see a lot of great heat control with the combo soldering pump soldering iron options, but I also don’t have experience trying it. The iron seems to be at or below the quality level of my starter soldering kits, which I would only use now in an emergency to repair my main kit.

The station I use the most is this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B09CMYBL98?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

I use real Hakko tips (each one costing about half as much as the station) but they work REALLY well. I have knock off Hakko tips and the difference in heat control at the tip is pretty dramatic.

None of the above.

If you must order from Amazon, search for T12-956 and get the set with the multiple tips.

You can also get the same set from Aliexpress (China) to save a few bucks.

This station will perform much better than the choices from above due to newer & better heating technology.

T12 is a standard for a specific type of soldering station/tips. The original tips from Hakko are called T15 but they are interchangeable.

When you read about T12 stations it means they all use specific tips; these tips are popular because they perform very well, are cheap, and can be found all over the place.

The Chinese have copied Hakko's technology, applied it to their own soldering stations and made it readily available for a fraction of the price as compared to the original station from this company.

This is the one I would recommend: Quicko T12-956 which is affordable and performs great.
