I do own a AW120 which I'm for the most part happy with. For flowers, it helps to use macro-mode of course and to under-expose them with exposure compensation. The AW120 doesn't have a lens cap, so I suggest purchasing a lens pen (which I always bring with):

GPS works pretty well and you can upload your photos to http://regex.info/exif.cgi?dummy=on&imgurl= to see them on a google map (or picassa). There is an option to download AGPS files every few weeks which speeds up picture taking with satellite tracking on.

The problems with the AW120, is that is uses an aggressive noise cancelling algorithm which smudges poorly lit pictures and then overcompensates the smudging, by over sharpening the result. Sometimes this results in a water-color mess...but really most P&S's have this problem. You can't shoot raw of course with the AW120.

Sometimes the white-balance algorithm goes a little overboard with the AW120 as well. It tries to make the darks really dark and the whites really dark, which is a pain for detailed pictures in the shade.

If you shoot a lot of flower pictures, you may want to consider the Olympus tg-4 (the big competitor to the AW120...well AW130 as that is the latest model now). Olympus tg-4 is similar to the AW130, but it's specialty is macro-photography and may be well suited for what you are doing. I like the AW series for their crisper video, but if you don't need this, the TG series might be better.

My website is filled with AW120 pictures if anybody is curious:
