If you buy a "no-name" antenna that claims a "250 MILES RANGE" or that you can get CNN with it, you're begging to be scammed and defrauded. Its thin non-removable coaxial cable is a piece of cr*p that is vulnerable to interference and signal loss.

An antenna that might be able to pick up your ABC and Fox Hi-VHF stations, while still pulling in your UHF stations, is the RCA Amplified Indoor HDTV Antenna (recommended by the Antenna Man on YouTube):

Do a RabbitEars.info report (specify 10-15 ft as the height) and post a link to it here to get more specific recommendations.

You might also try an old-style set of rabbit ears. This one has both rabbit ears (for VHF), UHF capability, and an amplifier (that can be turned off/on): https://www.amazon.com/RCA-Amplified-Indoor-HDTV-Antenna/dp/B000HKGK9I/ref=asc\_df\_B000HKGK9I/

The Antenna Man on YouTube reviewed it ("RCA Amplified Indoor HDTV Antenna w SmartBoost Technology Review") and recommends it for getting weaker VHF channels, as well as UHF channels. If you do lose any UHF channels, you could combine it with a flat indoor antenna (your Vragey, Channel Master FLATenna 35/+, Mohu Leaf 30/50/Supreme Pro, etc.) using an antenna combiner.

Also in Bear.

I have a RCA indoor one setup next to my upstairs TV with a splitter linking it to the adjacent tv downstairs to the family room TV.

Upstairs TV gets 5 channels with CBS being the main one, the downstairs TV picks up about 15 channels with CBS and NBC being the main ones.

This is using the receivers built into the TV's so I'm thinking that might be the issue, could also be the ancient splitter, also the lack of line of site to anything.

The next task for me is to invest in a outdoor unit and then re-purpose the old Direct TV mounting gear to see what I get. Its on the wrong side of the house according to the antenna maps, but it should be better than nothing and might give me something I didnt get before.
